Housekeeping Duties: Light housekeeping is defined as maintaining an orderly home to ensure cleanliness and order. It is the responsibility of the caregiver to maintain the dwelling to the standards of the client. It is the responsibility of the client to discuss the details with the caregiver to define their preferences. Most often, light housekeeping is confined to the area where the caregiving services are taking place.  Light housekeeping does not include moving furniture to clean under it, removing draperies for cleaning or laundering, washing windows, etc.. The standard duties are to maintain order and cleanliness. That includes vacuuming carpeted floors, dusting shelves and furniture, sweeping and mopping flooring surfaces, and generally keeping the dwelling clean and neat. The kitchen should be clean, neat and sanitary and ready as a place to prepare food. Light housekeeping in the kitchen includes cleaning of dirty dishes by washing them or loading them into a dishwasher. If washed by hand, the dishes will be dried and returned to cupboards. The dishwasher should be unloaded when the cycle is
complete and dishes put in the proper place. This also includes keeping counters clean, wiping down appliances and removing spills and streaks. The bathroom should be cleaned to the standards of the client. This can include cleaning sinks and counters. Tubs and showers should be lightly washed, rinsed and
dried with a towel. Toilets should be cleaned with a disinfectant to ensure cleanliness. Replacing used hand towels and bath towels with clean towels is also a light housekeeping service.  The bedroom of the client will be kept clean and tidy. This includes removing soiled linens and replacing them with clean linens.
Laundry is also included in light housekeeping duties. Laundry will be sorted, washed and dried. Clean laundry will be folded and placed in the appropriate location identified by the client.

What types of homemaking services are available?
  • Housekeeping:  Vacuuming, dusting, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms to include sinks, showers, tubs and toilet, cleaning kitchens, sinks, appliances, counters, taking out the trash, straightening all rooms, organizing closets and drawers, cleaning any interior windows that can be reached without a ladder.
  • Laundry & Linen Washing:  This can be done in either the client’s home or the Laundromat includes washing, drying, ironing and putting things away. (Separate charges may apply for laundry done outside client’s home)
  • Organize Incoming Mail We can assist the client in separating the junk mail from the important mail, and let them know when bills are due.
Where do I receive personal care services?

In most cases, you will receive these services in your own home.
