1. What made you decide to become a Caregiver?

I wanted to be a nurse since I was 10. I like helping people. I like making a difference.

2. What does professionalism mean to you?

First and last impressions, proper attire, how you carry yourself, how you respond/react in your environment, following policy/procedure, staying within your scope of practice. Knowing where to go for guidance/learning.

3. What does preparation mean to you in regards to your workday?

Prioritizing, time management, listing what your tasks are for the day, getting to know your assignment.

4. What does framework mean to you in the caregiver arena?

Seeing the whole picture, knowing the chain of command, building respect among your coworkers.

Purpose: To make a cohesive workflow.

5. How are you meeting the needs of others as a Caregiver?

You are assisting with things your patient isn’t able to manage. Following a personalized care plan to be sure the patient is receiving the quality of life.

Attitude: Positive- leave drama outside- optimism
Mood: Positive- leave baggage at home- it’s a workspace, you smile, they smile
Motivation: You have things to learn & a job to do
Job knowledge: Always something to learn, ask questions, research what you don’t know, know your scope.
Compassion: Everyone deserves a kind face, a kind smile, someone to listen, at times someone to hold a hand.

Follow proper body mechanics, follow the procedure as it is outlined. Don’t take unnecessary shortcuts.

Follow proper body mechanics, save your back, don’t strain.

Any necessary. I am needed and much too young to be disabled by not taking care of myself- also to protect the client.

I see the whole picture around me, no tunnel vision.

Being able to handle conflict in a professional, appropriate manner. Being able to put a happy face on even when I don’t feel it.

Clients have personalized plans that work for them individually, that keep them & you safe.

Speak to someone with professionalism, respect, and with confidence.

Keep the area clean and organized.

Pay attention, look, listen, and do.

Knowing these clients needs you. Being aware that each moment is just one small moment in time, makes an impression.

Stay calm, refer to your knowledge base, reach out to others for guidance if necessary, do the best that you can.

The documentation should paint a picture, should tell a story of that client.
