1. What made you decide to become a Caregiver?

My sincere desire to help others in a way that is meaningful to both myself and them.

2. What does professionalism mean to you?

Being on time for each day, willing to own all activities within any professional environment to include regular self-evaluation of my professional clinical skills and where it can make improvements.

3. What does preparation mean to you in regards to your workday?

Good self-care outside of work so I can be as healthy as possible in order for me to be as present & focused as possible so that I can be prepared to handle any situation.

4. What does framework mean to you in the caregiver arena?

Framework means any structure that members of teamwork within in order to deliver service to a client/group of clients.

5. How are you meeting the needs of others as a Caregiver/PCA/LNA/Nurse?

Making sure that each client I encounter as part of my clinical day has all of their needs met and are safe.

6. Professionalism: How do you take responsibility for yourself?

Attitude: Always working to see the positive with and situation
Mood: Always working to be in the best possible headspace to work as a nurse
Motivation: Keeping perspective about what is important; client and self-safety
Job knowledge: Maintaining clinical competency as appropriate for the particular situation
Compassion: Working to always to keep in mind the amount of trust clients and fellow colleagues place in you to act with compassion in mind

7. Preparation: How do you reduce risk to yourself and your client?

Good self-care outside of work, staying within the scope of practice.

8. What does proper attire mean to you?

Scrubs, neat and clean, and any other requirements per facility you’re working at.

9. What does proper mobility mean to you?

Being able to move and function well enough to work safely as a nurse. Also means being able to be flexible within my scope of practice requirements.

Self-control means knowing when to speak up and when to keep quiet about things.

11. What observations do you make when working?

I use all of my senses and keep my observations on everyone and everything.

Being open to communication, appropriately documenting all client activities, reading nonverbal communication.

15. How do you maintain a proper environment?

Just keep things clean and neat generally.

16. How do you maintain meeting the basic needs of your client?

This is highly dependent on the client.

17. What does patience mean to you in the framework of caregiving?

Being willing to remember that when one is providing care, the client is placing a great amount of trust in you and that they’re at one of their most vulnerable moments and need the extra patience you’re providing to them.

18. How do you handle the unexpected?

As it comes.

19. What does proper documentation look like?

If it is not written it isn’t done, documentation needs to be detailed enough to accurately portray the client’s current status at the time the documentation was made.

20. How do you review and improve?

It’s an ongoing process, reviewing and subsequently improving the work.
