1. What made you decide to become a Caregiver?

I have always wanted to be a nurse and involved in the medical field, I took Allied Medical Services my junior and senior years of high school.

2. What does professionalism mean to you?

Professionalism means showing consideration and respect for others, demonstrating a positive attitude, cooperation, and commitment to your workplace.

3. What does preparation mean to you in regards to your workday?

Having my stuff together the night before, evaluating myself, and going into work with a positive attitude.

4. What does framework mean to you in the caregiver arena?

Framework means being organized, having structure, professionalism, doing what need to do, and having routines and stability.

5. How are you meeting the needs of others as a Caregiver?

Making them feel comfortable, making sure they have what they need, keeping an eye on their vitals, personal hygiene, tracking meals, water intake if needed, and providing support when needed.

6. Professionalism: How do you take responsibility for yourself?

Taking care of myself, staying dedicated to my workplace, being on time, being flexible.

Attitude: Having a positive attitude
Mood: Being in a good mood, and if I’m not, not showing it
Motivation: Staying motivated, always striving to do my best, and pushing my career up the ladder
Job knowledge: Knowing and understanding my job, knowing what I’m doing and how I’m supposed to do my job.
Compassion: Loving my job, having a passion for nursing, and caring for my clients.

7. Preparation: How do you reduce risk to yourself and your client?

Doing my job appropriately, following procedures and protocols, wearing gloves, and appropriate PPE when needed.

8. What does proper attire mean to you?

Covering myself appropriately, scrubs, no holes in my jeans, making sure my shirt is high enough.

9. What does proper mobility mean to you?

Able to move freely and easily, range of motion, moving properly to decrease injury.

10. What precautions do you take?

Hand hygiene, gloves, masks, etc.

11. What observations do you make when working?

My peers, surroundings, my attitude.

12. What does self-control mean to you?

Knowing when I’m in the wrong, being able to handle situations that aren’t ideal, knowing how to walk myself through it.

13. What does it mean to follow a care plan?

Knowing the times at which whatever needs to be done; meals, medications, daily routines, exercise, etc.

14. What is proper communication?

Communicating your feelings. Letting clients know what is going on, what you’re going to be helping them with, etc.

15. How do you maintain a proper environment?

Cleanliness, staying professional, organization, knowing where my equipment is, etc.

16. How do you maintain meeting the basic needs of your client?

Personal hygiene, eating, basic healthcare, everyday routines.

17. What does patience mean to you in the framework of caregiving?

Working with your client and not rushing them.

18. How do you handle the unexpected?

Have a good mindset.

Writing times, dates, details if needed.

20. How do you review and improve?

Evaluate myself, think about what I could’ve done better, and work on it.
